NUBIA CARDOSO-ARIZMENDI
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Nubia earned her B.A. in Public Health Policy with a Minor in Biological Sciences from UCI in 2021. She has extensive experience as an undergraduate and postgraduate in research labs as an intern and research assistant. Most recently, she worked in the Social Epidemiology and Research in Community Health (SEARCH) Lab at UC Irvine’s Samueli College of Health Sciences, where she organized projects to lessen the burden of the COVID-19 pandemic in vulnerable communities throughout Orange County. She also worked in the Motivation and Identity Research Lab (MIRL) at UC Irvine’s School of Education on a major project funded by the National Science Foundation to further the advancements of underrepresented students in STEM fields. Additionally, she was awarded the ABRCMS 2018 Presentation Award for Outstanding Poster Presentation, for her research project which investigated implications of racial discrimination towards residents and attending physicians of color specifically, by increasing rates of burnout and affecting career choices. Nubia plans to continue pursuing her efforts to better the goals, achievements, and quality of life of underrepresented groups in the United States specifically in fields where they are often disadvantaged, such as education and health equity.
