The training provides an in depth understanding of the CAT and prepares attendees to implement the CAT instrument as an assessment and faculty development tool on their campus. The training focuses on two goals: engaging faculty in scoring student responses on the CAT, and developing course activities that merge discipline content and critical thinking. Attendees will participate in a CAT scoring workshop and score real student responses. This scoring process allows attendees to learn what the CAT measures and provides an opportunity to experience the insight and awareness that comes with scoring the CAT. Attendees will also develop CAT Applications, or discipline-specific assessments that focus on the skills measured by the CAT instrument.
By completing this CAT Training Workshop, attendees will be able to lead scoring workshops on their campuses and support faculty in the development of discipline focused critical thinking activities. Additionally, all participants in this workshop will receive 15 free online CAT tests to jump start your assessment efforts and experience the many benefits of online administration.
